The Philosophical Foundations of Fetlabel Inc.
Divine Accountability: Rooted in the primordial questions, "Where are you?" and "Where is your brother?", we operate on the conviction that we are spiritually responsible for both our own integrity and the well-being of our neighbor.
Solidarity in Suffering: Inspired by Pope John Paul II’s historic 1983 visit to Haiti, we move beyond individual concern to address collective social struggles. We ask, "Where are we?" as a society when faced with the persistence of poverty.
The Witness of the "Hidden": Born from the personal experience of seeing friends in Haiti retreat into the shadows of destitution and shame, our mission is a lifelong commitment to seek out those who are "hiding" in their hour of need.
Stewardship of Creation: Guided by the teachings of Pope Francis and the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, we prioritize the "least of these" while embracing our duty to protect the environment—our common home.
Universal Humanism: We align with the great humanist tradition which asserts that the primary purpose of human existence is the active care, dignity, and flourishing of our fellow man.
Compassion in Isolation: Reflecting on the profound loneliness of the COVID-19 pandemic, we utilize prayer and active outreach as vital tools to reconnect with the forgotten and the sequestered.
Active Restoration (The GPS Mission): Just as a GPS locates the lost, we serve as a navigational tool for hope—lifting friends out of sorrow and empowering them to "get up and walk" toward a renewed life.
We translate these foundations into a non-sectarian mission to serve the Haitian people, both at home and across the diaspora, through four core pillars:
Radical Joy: Our primary metric is the human smile. We aim to spark moments of happiness regardless of external circumstances.
Holistic Upliftment: We celebrate the person, not just the problem. From honoring life milestones like birthdays and patron saints to providing stress relief, we offer a roadmap for better living.
Global Community: We fight the epidemic of isolation by reconnecting "citizens of the world," fostering a network of friendship that transcends borders.
Humanitarian Hope: Our ultimate goal is to help the "Sun of Haiti" rise within the hearts of its people, illuminating even the most difficult environments with the light of possibility.
